BD Diesel
This upgraded transmission is built to handle up to 300% more power and torque than stock while dramatically increasing drivetrain durability. It features all-new bushings, a redesigned valve body, revised oil circuits, and a fully rollerized geartrain to reduce friction and improve reliability.
Stock thrust washers are replaced with roller Torrington bearings to protect governor solenoids, while a drilled intermediate shaft and modified manual valve ensure proper lubrication in all gear positions. 47RE transmissions are upgraded with stronger 48RE components, including new input shafts and hub assemblies.
Clutch capacity is increased with heavy-duty clutches offering up to 25% more friction material, machined pressure plates and pistons, a high-temperature Raybestos band, and billet band hardware. Up to 80% higher clutch apply pressure delivers firm, consistent shifts at lower RPM and lighter throttle input, eliminating shuttle shifting. An upgraded governor pressure transducer and solenoid (with twice the burst pressure of stock) further improve hydraulic control.
Cooling and durability are enhanced with a BD rigid aluminum heavy-duty transmission pan, which adds 1 quart of fluid capacity, reduces case flex and internal leakage, and features cooling fins and a magnetic drain plug. Additional protection includes a cooler line case saver and a BD auxiliary full-flow filter kit.
Clutch counts include Forward (5), Direct (6), Overdrive (6), and Overdrive Direct (10), making this transmission a proven solution for high-power diesel applications.
